How to choose the game mode in Escape from Tarkov?

Escape from Tarkov is a tactical first-person shooter game. This game is loved by the majority of game lovers. Why is this game so popular now? Let us first look at what game modes this game has.

Escape from Tarkov Game Mode

1.What are the modes in Escape from Tarkov?

Escape from Tarkov has three game modes, PMC mode, Offline mode, and Scav mode.

PMC Mode: In PMC mode, you play as your main character hired by a private military company (USEC or BEAR). You start at the beginning of a raid instance on your selected map, carrying Tarkov items and gears you have equipped to your character at the stash. As a PMC operator, you may engage and kill other PMC operators or Scavs. In order to survive the raid and escape with any items you are carrying, you must locate and move into an extraction zone, of which the list is available ingame by double-tapping the O key.

Office Mode: The Offline mode is to be used for “…exploration and testing of the location, weapon adjustment, character testing…” meaning that Offline mode is not the main way of playing the game. Offline mode offers further tweaking options, allowing you to enable/disable PvE (AI Scavs), Bosses for each map, weather, time, and more. Any progress, good or bad, will be completely lost upon raid termination. This means that you may disconnect from Offline matches with no penalty whatsoever.

Scav Mode: In Scav mode, you play as a member of the Scav faction. You have randomized gear and equipment, often low quality or unbalanced, and will spawn midway through a raid session without any context or information of what’s happening around you. Despite this, Scav run has its own advantage; AI Scavs will not aggress you unless you do so first, and will even cooperate with you on rare occasions. Additionally, Scav loadouts are essentially free, meaning that unlike a PMC run, you do not risk anything you own when you play as a Scav. However, Scavs must locate and move into extraction zones just like the PMCs in order to survive the raid and transfer any loot you may have gathered. In addition, you cannot progress your PMC while playing as a Scav; Any XP you have earned will be lost, and you may only complete “Find in raid (item)” tasks.

2. How to play each mode in Escape from Tarkov?

PMC Mode: When you choose to play as a PMC in Escape From Tarkov, you are controlling your player-created character. This is the dude you chose at the start of the game, and he belongs to one of two factions, according to the in-game lore: BEAR or USEC. When playing as your PMC character, you will be using equipment you’ve earned throughout your playtime in Escape From Tarkov. Everything you do in the game is in service of making this character stronger.

You have access to a stash area where you’ll keep your loot that you find in raids. When you enter battle as your PMC, you risk losing whatever items you bring with you. That’s because when you die in Escape From Tarkov, you drop whatever you’re carrying. You see, there’s a heavy risk-reward element at play in the game. Entering a raid as a PMC means you get to bring your favorite weapons and stockpiled ammo and meds with you, which usually offers an advantage in combat. However, there’s always a chance that you’ll die and lose it all!

Office Mode Explained

This video can show you how to carry out office mode. And I wrote Woods Shturman Secret Office Mode Guide in Escape from Tarkov before, you can use these to understand what Office Mode is like. Therefore, for the other contents of office mode, no more detailed introduction here, players can go to the game to experience office mode.

Scav Mode: When you choose to play as a Scav in Escape from Tarkov, SCAVs are scavengers, looters that are simply looking to snag whatever they can get their hands on. Typically, SCAVs are AI-controlled enemies that populate a raid. They’re the best way to get loot early in your Escape From Tarkov experience and serve as a way to get the ball rolling on your PMC character.

The wrinkle is that you can choose to play a raid as a SCAV. When you do, you’ll be given a randomly-generated set of gear and dropped into the world. Their gear is typically weaker than PMC gear, but the big advantage of playing as a SCAV is that you’re not risking your own stuff. If you die and lose all your items, who cares? It was just weak SCAV stuff anyways! You can still kill other PMCs and SCAVs, loot them, and escape the map, though, making SCAV matches an integral part of the Escape From Tarkov experience.

When you spawn into a raid as a SCAV, you’ll be friendly toward all the other AI-controlled SCAVs. That is until you shoot one. If a SCAV sees you fire on another one, they’ll immediately turn hostile and begin shooting at you as well.

Of course, you need to be aware that other players may also be disguised as SCAVs as well. The biggest tell is to check their behavior. If they’re not moving like you suspect an AI ought to be moving, then they’re probably a player. Keep that in mind during all matches of Escape From Tarkov.

3. Which mode should new players choose to start in Escape from Tarkov?

Escape from Tarkov is very difficult to get started. Many new players just enter this game, because the game does not indicate the UI and map signs, so it will cause new players to be overwhelmed. So I suggest that when new players can start, choose office mode, familiar with the Escape from Tarkov map, and understand the various conditions in the map. Through the office mode, new players can learn more about the gameplay of Escape from Tarkov. After that, you can choose PMC or SCAV mode to go to real combat and experience this game to bring you real fun.
